Johnny "Guitar" Watson

How could I have forgotten Johnny "Guitar" Watson?

I rediscovered him today, and the perfect day to so. I listen to and sang along with the songs of my teens, I remembered every song, every word. It made me happy today, a day I was feeling so very sad.

I told David about him, knowing he would remember and he said "I have his album right here" ... of course he does.

Well, I won't forget him again!

“Johnny Guitar” Watson, was an American musician and singer-songwriter. A flamboyant showman and electric guitarist in the style of T-Bone Walker, his recording career spanned forty years, and encompassed rhythm and blues, funk and soul music. Watson recorded throughout the 1950s and 1960s with some success. His creative reinvention in the 1970s with funk overtones, saw Watson have hits with "Ain't That a Bitch" and "Superman Lover". His highest charting single was 1977's "A Real Mother for Ya".

Pebbles

Pebbles passed away today. It all happened very quickly and I am in shocked. I didn't realize she was 10+ years old.

We all think she had a bad life of abuse before I adopted her at the shelter in Atlanta so many years ago:

"Of course, there was Atlanta. Our dog-adoption pit-stop. When I walked into the shelter to tell Robin to hurry up and spotted Pebbles, alone in a corner, her long, slim legs crossed. Rather oblivious to her plight. As I picked her up, then set her back down, some male dog came over and peed on her backside. When I saw that, I could not leave her there. Sent David a photo and text and the rest is history. That started her arduous trip back to Seattle. As I know now, she can't "potty" on a leash. Although, I would walk her for hours, in the wee hours of the morning before we hit the road. She acted like she wanted to, but just couldn't. That made me so worried for her, that I started feeding her little hand-fulls of rice. I know we were days from being home and she could survive on water, rice and bits of chicken. Without having a bowl movement in days and days, my worry-meter was high. Then she exploded, luckily, she was in her travel crate. But I had days of washing crates, buying many towels from Wal-Mart, doing loads of laundry and trying to make her NOT feel like she had one something wrong. She is very sensitive. My friend Faith kept asking, "are the dogs begging to go back to the shelter yet?"

My heart is so broken right now. She was such a sweet dog who didn't understand she was a dog or even know a dog played. Everyone was very patient with her weirdness and understood her. I am so glad she ended up with us instead of anyone else who would not have understood her.

This Frontline report - Plot to Overturn the Election

A must watch. Just look at his cult member's faces while they take in their God!

A year after President Joe Biden’s inauguration, around two-thirds of Republican voters believe his election was illegitimate, and the idea that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump is now a defining issue of the Republican Party. Yet the story of how lies about election fraud made their way to the center of American politics has not been fully told.

In a new investigative collaboration, FRONTLINE and ProPublica trace the hidden sources of misinformation about the 2020 election, demonstrating how a handful of people have had an outsized impact on the current U.S. crisis of democratic legitimacy.

Classic movies

Not sure if any of you are watching YouTube that much, but I discovered this channel on YouTube showing classic movies, Retrospective - Classic Movies. It is really great. Of course, I like film Noir, True Crime Noir Full Movie | Dear Murderer (1947), William Marshall - Blackmail - 1947, Alastair Sim Trevor Howard Thriller Full Movie | Green for Danger (1946). These are the movies I grew up watching on Saturdays!

An Illustrated Tribute to the Most Endangered Plant in Every U.S. State

When you think of the most endangered species in the US, your mind may conjure images of fragile butterflies, rare birds and elusive prairie wolves. But over 800 plants are listed as threatened or endangered under federal jurisdiction, and thousands more are protected at state level. Many of them are wilder, weirder and just as beautiful as the endangered animals with whom they share their habitat.

What’s more, the continued flourishing of diverse botanic life in the US and the wider world is essential for the well-being of the ecosystem on which we depend.

Back in February, we created an illustrated guide to America’s most endangered animals. Now, we think it is time to put our plant life in the limelight. We’ve used the United States Department of Agriculture’s resources to identify the most endangered or threatened plant in every US state, and created a series of posters to draw attention to each species’ plight

For more posters and explanation of each endangered plant, go to NetCredit website to read the story. Illustrations by Alvar Ramos and Patrick Vertino

Move out soon

I don't know if I mentioned the kids bought a house the other day. Have not really asked for any updates or move-out date. I figure they will give information as they get it. I am very happy for them, at the same time trying not to think about the fact that I will not see Matt everyday. To counterbalance my dive into depression, I think about having a clean house again. Watching a lot of strange movies on Amazon, horror movie stuff.

Noah and I pretend that I am her friend Sarah, or that I am her teacher when she comes to school with her backpack full of lunch food. She brings all her stuffed animals into the family room and lines them all up. Last night we had a "sleep over". She is the funniest little thing ever. None-stop talking and making up stories. She never wears clothes, she never stops moving.

I am pretty sure Pixie has lost her eyesight now. Definitely has lost her hearing. I cried this morning watching her maneuver in the backyard. After Sophie this week, the kids, maybe Pixie. Change happens, that doesn't mean it is easy.
