A book by it's cover

A friend told me that you can buy books just to display in certain colors. Or fill up a library, like at Old Book Bundles. I think my reaction was "what?" I love old books, the smell, the covers, the feel. I have many that I will never give away. I got this obsession from mom. I watch the people being interviewed on the news via Zoom, and just drool over the libraries behind them! Jealous.

I think they call these "Interior Homescapes"

You can also customize your book covers/spine with a continuous image printed on them for display, like these

Embossed edge?

Gauffering describes the act of applying a patterned decoration to the text block edges of a book.  This type of ornamentation is used most often on books with gold or gilded edges.  The example shown is a copy of The Poetical Works of John Dryden, which has been gauffered with a rope and star pattern using heated metal stamps and rollers.
