Forest of the Weird

 

 Scientists observed several species of Hexactinellid sponges, or glass sponges, while exploring Horizon Guyot seamount and “Ridge” seamount in the Johnston Atoll, Pacific Ocean, during NOAA’s 2017 Laulima O Ka Moana expedition. Glass sponges have skeletons made of silica
