I am with Sharon, who left this comment on my last thrift store entry (Hi I'm Sharon and I'm an addict! I love love love to do the Thirt Store search). I am an addict. I ran up the other day to take a look at the games section. Found lots-o-games for $1.00. Mainly for the pieces and not the game. Although the Bingo Games boxes are keepers! And the Phonetic Word Game, not sure what to do with that, but it is a keeper! Passed by the office supply, stumbled upon many old rulers, 25-50 cents each, and the Star-Finder. Hope to use it in some assemblage art. Thanks to Tara, I am trying to finish up a few pieces I started many years ago.
My husband, knowing me the way he does, thought ahead and bought me several storage boxes for all the games pieces I have been collecting. My thought on this is: ArtFest is coming up in March. Tara told me I must go. And they have "trades" at night after classes. So I was thinking I would put together packages of assemblage pieces for trade, thus started running to thrift store. I have a good supply now. By March, I should have plenty to pack up in some cute little silk-screened paper bags. I am very excited. So thanks Tara, for inspiring me to take on ArtFest. And Sharon, for understanding my mild addiction. In my boxes, game pieces (Monopoly), cards, dominoes, kids games cards, number game pieces, memory game cards. It is all fun!

I am also an addict, the games you've found are great. It must be a dormant hunter - gatherer gene that forces us to search through thrift stores for beautiful things we really need. I found a bingo set as well but it doesn't have all the pieces. I really like the box though.
My husband will ban me from your blog if he knows you're fueling my 'bringing junk home' addiction! : D Gotta question, though, Kim You've posted pics of your home, but it doesn't look like you have your, uhm, 'finds' displayed (i.e. it doesn't look 'junked out'). How do you manage all your finds?
Paula - Well, I do have all the hundreds of plates stored (somewhere) around the house. I once would drive around for weeks with plates in my backseat; afraid of being chastised when I brought them in the house. And so many wine glasses that I went searching for a couple of years ago. But most of the new stuff is to use in other art projects, and all of that stuff is now in my art studio. I have been breaking down all of those games into pieces. And the rest is stacking up in my studio until I find 'their' place! I will post a picture and be very embarrassed. I think my house looks like a junk store!
Hey, Kim...I had backtracked to see pics of your house (the block party) and studio (Man, oh, man...what a NICE studio! And of course it's YOUR space so you can house your stuff there). But your house, well, I just didn't see any 'junk' in your pics (though you did show your 'Texas' collecion a while back). So you either hid it all well (for the party) or your idea of 'junked out' isn't mine. : )
Oh, and keeping your junk-find in the car for fear of chastisement--too funny!
All I want in life is to have fun and make some money, isn’t that what everyone wants? My kind of fun just happens to make me money too! I love playing poker or a good bingo game online for fun and this gives me the chance to win some cash at the same time! Even more so if there are some poker or on! So if junk makes you happy, go for junk!
bingo is'nt junk, I agree go with, whatever makes you happy
