Illustration Friday is summer. Summer for me is gardening, enjoying my hydrangeas, getting wet under the sprinklers, sun-bathing in the privacy of my back yard, thinking about going on vacation somewhere (but never going), drinking frozen drinks, having friends over for for cook-outs, public swimming pools with the kids and catching a cool breeze under my tree. Summer does not last very long in the Northwest and it is wonderful.

Very glad to have found your blog - I like your 'somethings to say'. You are extremely lucky to garden in Summer, we have a drought here in Australia, no sprinklers allowed, sunbaking is cut in half timewise because it's too hot - but enjoy the same as your other vocations. Love your illustration style!
Dear Anonymous: Thank you. Funny you should mention drought, because it is an unusal thing to have one of those in the Pacific Northwest, but we are going to have one this summer. We did not have as much rain or snow as usual. It has rained a little in the spring. So we will not be 'watering' as much as before. But being from Texas, where the true droughts occur, I know how hot and dry it can be, and not too many flowers happening in that! I do feel very lucky to have what little moisture we do have!
PS I was going to email but could not find your email address ;(
Have now put my email address with Profile. It can be fun to chat in comments though :) Used to grow own vegetables here, but gave up about four years ago due to having to watering can water either sunrise or sundown. I do hope the drought doesn't take over the world forever! Enjoy your blooms!
fun line drawing, wheeeee your sprinkler waters some fancy "type" of water !!!
What a great illustration, one of my concepts was along the same lines (as we both love to garden). Glad you participated in this one.
Love the stripes and polka dots!

yes, summer is about gardening. Sure wish I wasn't such a brown-thumb! Still, I can appreciate a lovely garden and a lovely illustration. Great job!
I like the style of this illustration.

Hey Kim! (this is Angela from KS) I love your interpretation of summer. Thanks for showing Cathy and me Illustration Friday. She likes to post pictures, I like to view the masterpieces of others. Hope we can keep in touch! :)
