A funny thing happened while stealing a branch. Driving home last night, I passed M's old elementary school that have the coolest, more wonderful trees *ever*. It was dark and the parking lot was empty. So I thought, I will stop in and grab me a branch, unnoticed. The *minute* I started breaking off the berried branch ... about 50 cars pulled in, shining their lights on me in my thievery moment. There must have been a Christmas concert or something going on. I took my little treasure and drove away. So much for unnoticed.

I was getting into my car outside La Fonda hotel in Santa Fe recently and noticed a thick stick, not quite branchy, by the tire. I picked it up to throw it on the sidewalk, but it was so straight and nice that I threw it in the car instead. Once home I noticed it was a piece of river willow that had been carefully pruned of side branches -- probably one of the street vendors used it to hang clothes or rugs. I know I'm meant to do something creative with it, just haven't figured out what yet.
Love this shot!!
LOL ... that sort of thing happens to me all the time. :) I know a great place to pick "tons" of rosehips in the Fall; unfortunately it's out in the open on a heavily traveled road and I always feel like a thief. But then I justify in my mind I am deadheading the rose bushes which is a good thing (isn't it). :)
I LOVE this.
