The Altered Me

My sweet, well-intentioned friend is always telling me it would be better if I softened my face a little. I use those tricks and filters all the time in my work. And granted the version she did of me, shown here, does make me look 15 years younger. But I am not. I don't mind showing my wrinkles. I don't want people to audibly gasp when they meet me in person after seeing pictures on my blog that have been altered or softened to take years way. Frankly, I have earned the right to wear these wrinkles with pride. Heck, if I were going to change myself, why wouldn't I just get the voluptuous lips and bushy, thick eyebrows I always wanted. No thanks, S, I want to be as I am, thanks for the help though.

Yes, I agree, we earned these wrinkles.

You cannot be someone you're not.

Like the lips, I might be tempted to do that if it weren't painful. But I agree with you, you are who you are and why would you want to change.

The regular you is beautiful but I gotta say the Angelina you is so striking, I can't look away and the only change I see is the pouty lips! I agree with what you say, because those you want in your life look in your soul, not at your face, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up a bit, isn't it.

My youngest daughter counceled me about a month or two ago to "paint the barn" once in a while. So taking her advice, I went and did something this old hippy chick had never done...a mall make over.

After sitting and being made up by a talented and witty young artist, I made a $80 purchase of makeup;mind you this was just the primer and base coat.

The following day I spent about 1/2 hour painting the barn and when I went to show off the new digs to Hubby, he just smiled and asked what he was supposed to be commenting on.

"The make up. I put on make up to look better." "Well, I can't see the difference, and you looked this good to me yesterday."

Go figure.
