Got in my car the other morning and listened to Steve Scher talk about "Plastics and The Marine Environment" (especially interesting when you think about all the crap that cargo ships lose in their ocean crossings and all the trash that is on our beaches), got to work and read about how for years Victoria, B.C. has been dumping millions of gallons (per day) of untreated sewage into Georgia Strait. Went home that night and watched "Nature" on PBS about "A mystery in Alaska" about how Steller sea lions are disappearing, herring is being overfished. Thinking about oil spills. People all over the world that do not have clean drinking water while we fill up our swimming pools and water our grass lawns in Las Vegas. I have to ask myself, have we just stepped over that line of "no return" when it comes to having a safe, clean environment for our children to enjoy? Clean for this week's challenge for Illustration Friday.
As a side note, this morning listened to a story about Wal-Mart going green. And Corn plastic to the rescue.

Nice. Very thoughtful post. :-)
Good post with lots of useful links. Illustrates your point quite nicely. I just bought Al Gore's new book and it's sobering to think of our environment and how radically our environment is changing.
Your illustration is certainly very thought-provoking along with your post. I hope we haven't reached "the point of no return." Perhaps more and more, corporations, the government, and individuals will support the use of renewable, environmetallly benign resources. Your fish looks puzzled, and just a bit scared:<
