"To create abstract landscapes, topographical or astronomical maps, and coded networks Shane Drinkwater employs his own language of lines, dashes, and dots. His pieces resemble maze-like systems with each symbol flooded with personal meaning. The ambiguity of each mark and the composition allow viewers to project their own perceptions as they try to inspect, unlock, and decode his language. Drinkwater creates textures through repetition, often times reading as fabric or quilted material. The journey viewers eyes take when traveling through his pieces simulates the fleeting choices our minds are forced to make on a day to day basis."
