It all started when Rita turned me on to Blue Polly and Katie reminded me Last Call was happening at Neiman Marcus, I blame them both for all the time on the internet yesterday. I saw THIS eskandar (collection) Coat-Dress & Shirt-Dress, my jaw dropped and I wanted it, until I saw the hefty price tag. Then I searched out Krista Larson (of Blue Polly) and found all kinds of fun things on Niche -- this linen burlap coat with funky button placket and Cynthia Ashby Transition collection. I love! Then I found Summer 2006 Krista Larson - Apricot Samples on Ivey Abitz. Also found Sula, Alison Taylor designs, fell in love.
Found lots of expensive Krista Larson on Ebay which somehow led me to find Studio Rundholz and Spirithouse. Then ended up on this wonderful skifo site. Wool jackt by Ivan Grundahl and his official website.
Found this ESKANDAR Embroidered Chinese Tapestry (below) on ebay for $259!! On Ebay! D said, if you love it, buy it, but somehow I just could not click the buy now button.
This is a top pick for my party dress (Chronicler, thank you) and Rachel pointed me to a good slinky pant.

So, Mea Culpa already! This is good stuff.
OMG the coat dress and shirt dress from NM are breathtaking!!! WHATEVER you decide to wear, you'll feel much better about the way you look if you get some Spanx

No matter your size, these things have a remarkable way of smoothing and firming a multitude of sins, as well as just making all clothing lay more nicely. You're going to look amazing no matter what you wear. Love the black dress that's on your short list - it looks classic and elegant.
Thank you, thankyouverymuch! I loved that dress when I saw it. Some of their stuff is a bit funky, but there are some good finds! Great choice.
Ok, Rita, I love the spandex but here has always been my question ... where does the fat go when you push it in with tight spandex? It must GO somewhere .... ;( move to another spot somewhere ;( Have you worn these things?
I love the full body suit, but I know that it would push all my fat right down to my ankles ;)

OMG!! Thank you for that last link (zaftique)! I love their clothes and they're just what I've been looking for!
And I really like the coat dress. That is gorgeous.
No, Kimmer, wodges of adipose tissue don't come springing out of your cuffs and it doesn't make you appear THAT much smaller - just smoother and less jiggly and a little bit smaller. And, let's face it, even a 110 pound woman can look jiggly if she's not toned. I think they're great.
so much for my fashion sense and maybe I need to get out more, but I think the coat dress is dreary (high price tag and all) and would make you look Amish....... sincerely, no offense intended to those that liked it.
No offense taken, Anonymous. I have always had a weird sense of what I think is wonderful. I really hate today's fashions of revisiting the 70's ... been there, done that...I think these big, layered, multi-fabric garments are fun .... but you are right, they are definitely not for everyone. I am still waiting for that "out of Africa" look to come back. ;)
Love your top pick party dress. Yes to 3/4 sleeves (bracelets) but what about that v-necked one? Elongate the neck, wear a fab neckpiece, really arty to contrast with the classic look of the dress. Are you comfortable with a little cleavage? I would be if I had some ;-)
You know that I spend way too much time with the TV on but do learn a few things....Oprah swears by Spanx.
love you
