Self-Portrait Challenge pop art. I sat (and they just stuck straws up my nose so I could breath) for a life mask for a friend's art project during college, this one did not turn out perfectly. Okay, a stretch for Pop art, but it looks like it belongs in an austere gallery on white walls. (Hmmm, that is what happened to my eyebrows!)

WOW!!! This is so amazing!
I've always found face casts both fascinating and a wee bit creepy. Cool take on the topic, Kim!
WoW - you are brave. I don't think I could do this... I'm sure I would become paranoid that I wouldn't be able to breathe, even with the straws... Yikes
VERY COOL! I think it's amazing :)
Thank you erica, debr (yes, it is creepy to see yourself sleeping? dead? or just see yourself in that form)
Linda, I do remember being a little freaked out, and then it was that thing about pulling my eyebrows eyelashes out ;0
Thank you Tammy...that thing has been collecting dust in a bowl in my studio - I completely forgot about it
this came out so well. i like it.
i did something similair to myself (had a friend help me) in a sculpture class in college.
Very cool!
Now THAT is one helluva good self-portrait entry!
I am impressed. Ü
When I was an interpretor for an 8th grader, her art teacher has the class do these with the pre plastered cheese clth that you can get at Michaels or through Dick Blick. You need to imagine a room of 32 or so 8th grade kids wrapping each other in wet plastered cheese cloth, with straws up noses and them all trying to sit still long enough for it to harden.
It was a gas! I hadn't laughed so hard in a very long time.
I used to make these in art class and then paint and decorate them. I like yours- the plain white is pop artish.
Fun take on spc
Ouch!(eyebrows) Cool mask! Hey! I liked your poppy too!
