The former European editor of Women’s Wear Daily and W in Paris, founding editor of Elle Décor, and editor-in-chief of House Beautiful, McEvoy won a place on Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. But in 2002, she left the fashion and design world and retired to her 18th-century farmhouse in Wappingers Falls, which she has owned since 1997.
