"in a vase"

It has been a hard week of "down-in-the-back", after lifting heavy objects in my backyard. Sorry, not so much blogging this week. More icing, heating and taking nice drugs.

On a lighter note, I finally did it. Something I have thought about, dreamed about and angst over for many years. I made my book of flowers "in a vase" (yes, on my Mondo Beyondo list). It took me months to find, edit and organize my photos. Sadly, that was the hardest part of this job. And the second part of that is, I can't believe how many photos I kept that were marginal at best. Putting this together was a good reason to hit the delete button on many, many, many images clogging up my computer. A difficult part, for sure, for me, who doesn't throw anything away. But an essential part, of clearing out the clutter and keeping only what I thought was suitable to print. Trust me, I still have thousands of images to delete and store.

I was determined to give my S-I-L something special and unusual for her birthday because she is a special person. (Especially since her Christmas present still sits in the basement where I started to wrap it all up months ago.)

It arrived. I thought I might cry. My hand shaking a little as I opened the package. What would it look like? Photos blurry? I did have a moment when I felt a tear come to my eye but then the book editor took over and I found a typo, then a couple of photos that weren't up to my standards. Yes, I should have not hit the "print this book" so soon. David had proof-read most of it. And had gone through every photo, okaying it. I just should have waited another day or so. Anyway. I have now righted all my wrongs. And I am so thrilled with the outcome. Beyond what I had imagined, even with the couple of goofs. Just think, my S-I-L will have the first signed, edition, with the typo covered with a piece of paper.

first: Holy Crap you look good! Seriously, you are just getting more and more beautiful every minute.

and yes, when can we purchase a copy?

You sent me a group of your cards. Every time I go to use one I second guess myself. The question is usually "Does this person deserve this card?" And then I put them all back in their place. I have such a hard time giving them away! I can imagine what a book full of gorgeous pages would be like!

Please feel better soon. Nothing worse than back pain.

Deborah, I used Blurb, it was very easy application to use. Just make sure you SPELL CHECK, twice before hitting print ;)

Thank you Terry! I cleaned my computer and found all these images I had scanned in years ago!

Thank you S'mee ... ah, you noticed that I am letting my color grow off ... it is taking forever. But I am so excited about the color. So close to having it all gone (the color) ... Will need to send you more cards. I still have many left, I never really did anything with them.

Thank you Erin xoxox ... when it feels perfect I will make it public

Jan, that is sooo sweet of you! thank you so very much

Natalie, thank you! I am very excited to have it done and behind me. Now off to bigger things? ;)

Your S-I-L can't wait, but will; is thrilled with your book, but jealous that HER own big book idea is still but an idea; loves your hair, but feels kind of "meh" about her own. Beautiful day in NM -- get this: it RAINED last night. You know you live in the desert when you hear a strange sound and say, "What's that?" before realizing it's rain. LOVE you!

Kim! That is so cool! Congratulations to you for marking something off your LIST. I have yet to sit down and write my list somewhere permanent. I will do it soon - once I wrap up the kids bathroom remodel and the laundry room facelift. I can see how please and proud you are in the photos you shared here - makes me so happy for you!

p.s. I am in love with your new blog look. So great :).
