Chocolate rolls

We had a Chow Babes event yesterday. The theme was 'Your Mom's Favorite Recipes'. Many of our Chow Babes' moms have passed away. It was fun, emotional and delicious. The recipes will be posted on Chow Babes soon.

My grandmother, Nanny, made "chocolate roll" treats for her kids from leftover pie crust. Nanny and mom made them for me when I was a child. The best Sunday morning was when I smelled chocolate rolls baking in the kitchen. Now my son loves them and when mom makes them for us, we are thrilled and arm wrestle for the last bite. A delicious tradition.

Chocolate rolls
Leftover pie crust, or store bought pie crust.
Roll it out, brush a little butter all over
Sprinkle and cover the surface with cocoa
Cover the cocoa with a layer of sugar (you can add cinnamon if you wish)
Roll up the pie crust and pinch the ends closed
Brush outside of crust with a little milk or cream
Bake at 350 until brown and chocolate is oozing from the ends

Oh, my gramma did this too, but with butter and cinnamon sugar! Do you think they learned this at Grandma-school??

My mom used to do this with cinnamon and sugar! Thanks for jogging my memory and bringing back something I had forgotten about.

My four-year-old thought that you were me in that photo. I have a photo that I'll post soon that looks kind of the same. :)

My grandmother made these all the time. My sister now makes them. Thanks for sharing.
