It was a tough week. One big project keeps me getting up early and coming home late. Stumped and confused. Going to B&N after work (on my Friday which is Saturday) looking to be inspired is a ritual. I can fall into the magazine section and get lost for hours, soaking up so many ideas, colors, that my brain feels on the point of explosion. Marie Claire Idees magazine was out but I resisted buying it. Carried a stack of magazines to purchase around the store. Martha Stewart's new wedding magazine was full of visual treats, HOW came home with me. A Chocolate magazine full of recipes for the holidays. Then I came across Nancy Crow's new quilting book ... I had to have it. Gave the magazines one more look through, noted stuff I wanted to remember and put most of the them back.
My inspiration comes and goes. There are times when big ideas brew in my head constantly and times like now, when my brain feels like a blistering desert, barren of any visual living things.

ooooh, can you show some pics of the inside, then I'll know if I have to have it!
I love those trips to B&N. I don't usually get inspired as I get lost in it-all the visul beauty. Sometimes when I look for inspiration that way I get overwhelmed.
I like the moon man:)
You are not alone my friend, inspiration is such a fickle thing. ;)
Just so you know, often, your work has been my inspiration. ;)
You know, I do the same thing - every few months or so I have to go to B&N and have a mini artist retreat, scooping up mags and cds, stuff to give my creative juices a jolt of new energy. It's a restorative thing.
Oh boo hoo. Five whole frickin' minutes have transpired without a masterpiece from you--sheesh!
Kim, you are a fertile fertile creative delta unsurpassed.
If you've been humping for a big project shouldn't you rest a minute before driving on into the next great thing? Can you play today? This week? The way YOU want? With what you want?
Can you throw a 3D factor into your task? Can you resolve the dilemma with real objects (or images of real objects) vs. flat illustration this time?
Can you play with the scale of the task, take something normally small and blow it up hugely or vice versa?
I forgot to mention that I also saw the "Get Crafty" book on the mag rack. It was great! Gosh, Joelle! I am humbled to think you are inspired by me..
I love you Rita
Herself ;) That is my problem at the moment. Taking my art and giving it "movement". I really think I need more classes! I have been learning flash for so long now ... and it just does not click... I love the idea of moving ... but it does take a different thought process to make it happen and I am wondering if I pocess such a brain structure ;) ... but am working on it.
Thanks for all of the encouragement and comments....
