I am featured on the Blog of the Day at EdmondsPatch for my post on Pumpkins, With a Natural Twist. How fun is that? It is thanks to my husband for editing my piece "for public consumption". ;)
A little snippet from the post:
I love to add decorations right from nature. A walk
around the neighborhood can inspire all kinds of spooky ideas. Large,
sugar maple leaves (or any leaves with a long, sturdy stem) make a great
lion's mane. Carrots make devilish horns (they look better as they
shrivel up). Boxwood trimmings can form crowns. You can add fallen
branches with leaves or use toothpicks for teeth. I’ve wound up clematis
vines for beehive hair-dos and attached sweetgum seedpods for warts.
With garden snips in hand, the possibilities are endless. Pre-punch
holes in the pumpkin surface for natural decorations like leaf stems,
sticks and branches and pull them through from the inside. It’s fun and
easy for the kids.

Happy belated Halloween
I am watching the little baby knead and suck on her blanket. And here are my two babies enjoying a moment together.

For the first time ever, I completely missed handing out candy this Halloween. Instead spending time with my class TA at a coffee shop with wifi trying to catch up on my homework. Spent all weekend in front of this computer trying to figure out some pages, css and now I am exhausted! Busy week. Texas friends in on Thursday and then we off to Victoria for a couple of days. Need to get my assignments in early. Hope everyone had a happy, sugar saturated Halloween!

We are carvin' up some fun!
The kids and I are carvin' for Halloween. M carved the best pumpkin ever ... will take a pic of it tomorrow. Tired now, going to bed.
I tried the Martha Stewart turnip idea, and it turned out great. Great for little kids with little hands. I had such a blast making them.

Creative Carving
We are a little late this year carving our pumkins, on top of that we only have four tonight to carve! Four better than none and we still have one night left. M got the dremel tool out and gave that a try.
