I have two friends out there with health issues and I am constantly thinking of them and keeping them in my prayers.
I normally have the TV on. Not very loud but as flat-screen company. Sometimes my show ends (whatever random non-engaging crime show I am NOT watching) and it becomes so quiet. It is a welcome relief of silence in a way but after awhile I hear every creak in the house. The ice-maker, the wind blowing something around, birds eating seeds, seed dropping - making a mess on the deck and chattering, wind chimes (mine and the neighbors), airplanes landing in Everett at Payne field (we are now in a flight path), cars and trucks, someone coughing in the back of my house, a rowdy conversation the neighbors are having, the neighbors splashing in their pool - kids hollering and laughing, someone shutting a door, someone hammering something up the street, a dog barking, a truck reversing, Pixie snoring, fly buzzing, the squirrel is stuck in the tree telling off a cat on the ground (I run the cat off), a distant ambulance. So many sounds make up our silence.
Then the phone rings ... my friend calling. Jump out of my quiet zone to chat about my friends potential love life.
And of course there is the ever happening slight ringing in my ears. I hear that is an old age thing.
We are experiencing a heat wave the last 4 days. It does not cool down until 10-ish ... usually as soon as the son sets the air becomes blissfully cool. The sun on the back deck is almost blistering right now. Pixie can't quit panting. If it is too bad, I seek refuge in the front of my house - much cooler.
I am going to break my silence retreat, return to ususal programming and empty the dishwasher.
I love this to display rocks or shells.
I have been watching many videos on Frank Lloyd Wright on YouTube. So inspiring. I love his color palette and was thrilled to find out the red seen often is called Cherokee Red. I love the way he pairs this with sky blue accents. Reminds me of Georgia Clay (#b06144 hex color - Georgia Clay - Orange - Warm color).
Colors are so emotional ... just like smells.

It is probably my fascination with sand, my sand collection and variety of colors in all of the samples. Also, my favorite colors are really earth tones. I call my wardrobe color: "Moss on Rocks". I love wild and vibrant colors but I am miserable when picking them in wardrobe form. And really nothing in our house is very vibrant except our Oaxacan art collection.
Ochre Sanctuary is an evolving, living place that serves to protect and care for ochre, ie. iron-based earth and pigment wisdom. It’s currently based in tiny cabin in far north Cascade foothills of Nooksack territory, Washington, USA.
They may be white from which they may be influenced by calcium and magnesium carbonates, gypsum or other more soluble salts. Often, a white layer, mostly quartz occurs between organic matter on the surface where pigments were removed (Wisconsin State Soil).
Brown Soil Color
Brown soils might be brown from decaying plant material. The darker color often indicates an increase in decomposed organic matter known as humus. Soil has living organisms and dead organic matter, which decomposes into black humus. In grassland (prairie) soils the dark color permeates through the surface layers bringing with it nutrients and high fertility Deeper in the soil, the organic pigment coats surfaces of soil, making them darker than the color inside. Humus color decreases with depth and iron pigments become more apparent. In forested areas, organic matter (leaves, needles, pine cones, dead animals) accumulates on top of the soil. Water-soluble carbon moves down through the soil and scavenges bits of humus and iron that accumulate below in black, humic bands over reddish iron bands.
Yellow or Red Soil Color
Yellow or red soil indicates the presence of oxidized ferric iron oxides. The red color might be mainly due to ferric oxides occurring as thin coatings on the soil particles while the iron oxide occurs as hematite or as hydrous ferric oxide, the color is red and when it occurs in the hydrate form as limonite the soil gets a yellow color.
Grey Soil Color
Organic matter plays an indirect, but crucial role in the removal of iron and manganese pigments in wet soils. All bacteria, including those that reduce iron and manganese, must have a food source. Therefore, anaerobic bacteria thrive in concentrations of organic matter, particularly in dead roots. Here, concentrations of gray mottles develop.

I always want to take up knitting when I walk passed a display of colorful yarn. The collection is tantalizing. I feel the same looking at Dulux Colour Atlas.
What Pantone doesn't know is that Turquoise is my color of the year, every year. ;) The bottom right totem is one of my Christmas presents ... I love it!
