I have my Grandpa

I woke up today deciding I was taking my life back. I have cleaned all day. Starting with every corner of this filthy, dusty place.

Hanging art that I asked everyone to hang for me months and months ago, I said, f*ck it, I will just hang it. Of course, the minute the hammer started hitting the wall, David was behind me, art directing my every inch. "It needs to go higher, left, right" ... But I got most of the art leaing against the walls up ON the walls. 

I am going to take my time this week. But I am GOING TO RID OF THE DUST AND DOG HAIR. 

I have to say, my grand kids are the best (exhausting but best). Well, they are devils but they are funny and smart and quotable. Today, Noah and I were role playing. I am Brooklynn and she is Ziggy. She was bored today and I asked her "do you miss Mason when she is at school?" She nodded her head yes but said,  "But ... then I have Grandpa". And then David (smiling) said, you have Memaw too, and she said, "no, she is Brooklyn." 

Noah is really ready to have lots of kids to play with all day long. Kids these days are really sharp.

The tiniest details

I found Kiyom on The Art Room Plant. I am not sure how this perfection is achieved but I want to know. 

"A mother of two, Kiyomi often wakes as early as 4am to make time for her hobby. Made from various materials including paper, wire, and perspex, her incredibly detailed, tiny creations include everything you would find in an 18th century world. There’s antique, industrial style cabinets and chairs; haberdashery items, such as spools of thread, sewing scissors, and a vintage sewing machine; as well as little shoes and hats, laid out in a tiny clothes store. There’s even a miniature bakery complete with teeny-tiny pastries." From My Modern Met. 

You just look at these images and think "how in the world?"

"Despite working in two very different mediums, textiles and sculpture, a distinctive illustrative style runs through all of Rachel Sumner’s work. Rachel first began experimenting with textiles whilst studying for a BA Hons. in Fine Art at Maidstone in Kent, using felt making, dyeing and weaving to express her ideas. Being a collector by nature, she is constantly finding fabric to use, from tiny pieces that would otherwise be discarded to vintage remnants. She layers, stitches and embroiders these to create her nautical inspired textile pictures. The same intuitive technique is used when creating her sculptures. Living in North Devon, she finds the beaches a rich source of inspiration and objects, making use of the jetsam of life washed up on the shores by winter storms. Her sculptures of ships and birds are bursting with character and clever uses of materials- old worn-out paintbrushes become the legs of a flying wading bird, with rusted rivets becoming it’s eyes."

Noah love owls

She is always asking to look at owls when I am sitting at the computer. Usually I show her real photos of owls but today I searched illustrations. She got so excited, squealing, THAT IS MY FAVORITE (she says that in response to every one). I have not noted the illustrator (I know that is bad, sorry). But just for fun, here you got a few fun owls to brighten your day.
