The marbelicious Q-bo project
The marbelicious Q-bo project is "3D surface of RUGIADA (the Italian word for dew) is inspired by the fresh and light water drops that rest, early in the morning, on the leaves of the plants. Irregular rings of different size, spread over the entire surface, create a harmonious and animated texture on the slabs." Via Yatzer.

Slipping into fall
Jane Hammond
Noticed a piece of art by Jane Hammond while reading Pacific Northwest story about architect Geoff Prentiss by Val Easton this morning.

Going, going ...
These two images were in my head this morning when I woke up. I dream in illustrations about what is on my mind. Scary, huh?
No, I haven't been fired. But after years of coloring my hair, I have decided to go natural. I was going gray in my 30's. Mainly colored because I didn't want my son to be embarrassed by having a "grandmother" looking mother while he was in school. He is a senior now and really doesn't care anymore. But I keep hearing stories of the highly qualified "gray" unemployed being completely ignored during job interviews. That scares me. For them. For me. I am only half-way grown out, and keep telling myself I can color it again, if need be. But part of me, the rebellious me, says, why should I have to "brown" to be a valuable employee?
I am starting the new semester, a "whole" semester studying CSS (cascading style sheets). I have had some great weekend classes but really need more than a weekend. Away from work and home to focus and learn. I am very excited. So wish me luck.

Yesterday
My blogging effort is waning. Not enough time or energy the last week. So much going on at work that I come home exhausted and prepare for bed. ;0
Yesterday, with great expectations of going to the beach in search of driftwood ... woke up at 3a to a down pour which lasted all morning. It just seemed like the perfect day to stay horizontal, in front of movies and reading a big bunch of "passed-on" magazines. Which I did. All day. Then a little bejeweled and This American Life podcast, talking to my friend about her new logo. Taking the dogs in and out to potty ... the baby doesn't want to go outside when it is raining ... I forecast a painful winter for all of us, especially my carpet.
So a few places I discovered yesterday.

Mondo Beyondo (list)
I have been writing a Mondo Beyondo list since I first read about it on Andrea Scher's blog, Superhero Journal many years ago. I would always get to about no. 40 and leave it. Start another some other time later, get to no. 50, drift off ... you know the drill. They have gone beyond making list, now there is an online class offered by Andrea Scher and Jen Lemen, I think would be great to attend.
I had sent out a link to many a Mondo Beyondo list out there in blogland to my brainstorming group. We talked about our dreams, our wants, assessing ourselves and our assets for the next meeting. Then after not reading many blog lately, today I saw that Susan (Visual~Voice) had made one as well. Just do it, I said ... don't stop at 40 or 50. Don't get half way through then run off to make the bed or feed a dog. Commit this afternoon to finishing that one little task. So here is my first draft. I don't think there is ever a final draft, it is always growing, moving, changing, just like us.
We had our brainstorming meeting on Saturday morning. Mom made a big breakfast of frittata, lots of bacon, Anne brought poppy-seed muffins, homemade grape juice, banana bread. We talked about personal mission plans. Assessing our assets. We all have a project or two to complete before our next meeting. Mom cooking breakfast. Benjamin Franklin's Personal Mission Statement. Erma Bombeck. Write a business mission statement, how to write it.

Medical Condition
I was so excited yesterday when I heard the tease on "Blue Dementia" on kuow. I didn't hear about what it was, but I was sure they finally had a name for what I have been suffering! Alas, it is not a medical condition.
Honest Scrap Award
Thank you Costanza for honoring me with the Honest Scrap award. I am sorry it took me so long to put this response together! But here we go.
You are meant to tell 10 honest things about yourself and nominate 7 fellow bloggers.
1. I have been coloring my hair for 20+ years and have decided to go gray (or whatever color lies underneath). I am rather excited about the new look.
2. I have a hard time deleting and organizing emails, and with 5 email accounts ... you do the math
3. I drink at least one coke per day
4. I have a mantra I say every day driving to work, my car time is my alone, quiet time.
5. I am feeling my age and sometimes I see it in other peoples' eyes
6. I try and note one beautiful thing in nature per day. The other day it was the morning light leaving a light blue reflection on dark lake water. Or hearing a new bird song and being delighted. Picking up a seedpod and examining it. Slow down and take in the beauty for a couple of minutes each day.
7. I feel less interesting, and less interested lately
8. I have way too many drafts waiting to be published in blogger. I stack up all kinds of things to blog about then just don't have the time like I once had to put into this blog.
9. I consider deleting this blog but think it is the only thing that keeps me grounded, sane and reminds me of my many gifts
10. My life is not as fun as it once was. I need to remember that I have a great sense of humor. As my friend told me the other day ... the younger, newer people in our lives don't realize how funny we are (or use to be) because in our seriousness now and don't let our humor surface.
The 7 bloggers I send this along to: Rita, Scott, Faith, Tara, a new blogger friend, Bill, Gary, maybe Kathy will get back on her blog ;) I will pop over and tell you all later today.

Winding Down
This time between summer blossoms, changing leaves and pumpkin carving always seems a little bleak for me. The realization that no new poppy bloom will make me swoon and run for my camera. The anticipation of peonies and sweet peas. Seeking a big whiff of honeysuckle on a warm summer night. Magical nights with the yard lite up with tea candles on the perimeter of the yard, sparkling and conjuring up ideas of fairies living it up in the overgrown grapes. (Grapes, that need much looking after right now ... harvest and grapes to be cooked up for juice.) I didn't get enough of it this summer but then I say that about this time every year. I want the days to slow down.
The hydrangeas have fallen to the ground with the recent heavy rains.
I have a new hydrangea to plant, peonies to move very soon.
So there is still much to be done. But not the excitement of a new flower blooming. Now is the time to watch the miracle of them sowing their seeds. Loving them now in a different, more motherly way of cleaning and preparing for winter bed.

Sitting Pretty
I know it isn't really a work of art, but I shot some 'arty' photos, does that count? How can I resist the "chair" challenge at Inspire me Thursday when I am a miniature chair collector. Love them. 80+ to date. I can't have two chairs, so I always hate to break up a set when I see them at antique stores or garage sales. I don't collect rocking chairs, tables, day beds or sofas. Only 1 chair of a certain size.
