Good Things While Sightseeing

While sightseeing I did manage to purchase my husband's Christmas present (can not show it here, but the hint is - it is made in Mexico), these wonderful antique sugar labels for 25 cents each from Curtis Steiner's Souvenirs (absolutely my favorite place and person in Ballard) and these wonderful holiday cakes from Uwajimaya, Seattle. A must have because of the packaging. I have not opened them, but I am almost sure they are the bean curd cakes. The perfect packaging.

or you could open them carefully and save the packaging, plus see how they're constructed ...

*Whimper mode ON* OOOOHHH, that makes me Seattle-sick -- I'll never forget my first time in Seattle in 1992 when you took me to Uwajimaya - somewhere I have a scant few of the papers I bought there left--they were wonderful. I'll never forget their ultra high-tech toilet demonstration module - encased in lucite so you could get the image of a sparkling fresh botty emblazoned on your brain. I went to a Japanese restaurant recently, and in waddayaknow if they didn't have the deluxe toilet model with adjustable jets and temperature control. I refrained from giving it a test run--one more bottle of Saki and I would have, though...

Well I was told by a good friend from the design center to stop in at Pacific Gallies on Lander st.
well I did on Good Friday,,, I walked in to find about 5 people around this one front case all " ooing and in awe" striking my interest I moved closer, waited my turn only to have my mouth drop over these tiny treasures and the way is was so beautifuly displayed, this was in a "nut shell
the most glorious treasure in Seattle that I have seen in awhile"
I left with a Chinese King fisher feather pair of earrings, and a victorian beaded pair of seed pearl earrings. This Dealers Case is a must see in Pacific Gallery Antique Mall
