Little Pica

Chihuahuas are the cutest, meanest, smartest little dogs. (Pica: an equivalent unit of composition measurement used in determining the dimensions of lines, illustrations, or printed page, a small measurement).

The first time I met Pica was when I flew in to visit you in about 1998. Upon my arrival, Pica crowed and strutted about, wishing to demonstrate that he, in fact, is the glue that holds the universe together. For all his machismo, though, if I bent toward him to pet him, he ran for the tall grass. I quickly decided to let Pica approach me on his own terms, so I began pretending he didn't exist, which seemed to intrigue him. Within a day, Pica was my constant companion and couldn't be away from me. (I have a large, warm lap, and I'm easy.) Anyway, the night before I was flying home, Pica seemed to sense something was up as I packed my bags. He hopped about in a state of nervous agitation-- he almost seemed sulky and alternated between avoiding me and being constantly underfoot. I folded my travel attire and laid them neatly next to my bag. Next morning I got ready and picked up my jumper from my tidy pile of clothing, only to find it soaked courtesy of Pica. He tagged me, and now I guess I'm his property. Fine by me.

Pica is such a doll! And I love that you named him Pica... you must be an artist.

Yeah, Pica's theme song is "I'm a hustler" by Jay-Z. Mad pimpin' skills.
